Birthday Parties on a Budget

Birthday PartyI don’t know of any little one that doesn’t love a birthday party! As they get older they begin to dream about their party months in advance – or at the least the kiddos in my family do!

Birthday parties can be tons of fun but paying for them can get rather expensive. From decorations and the cake to party favors, sometimes spending can get a bit out of hand. The party ends up costing more than the birthday gifts!

I’m always on the lookout for a great deal, and I bet you are too! A few days ago I was meandering through the Dollar Tree. I absolutely love walking up and down the aisles to see all the goodies they have. And then it hit me…this is the perfect store to buy birthday party supplies (or any kind of party for that matter)!

They had tabletop decorations, tableclothes and balloons that would be perfect decorations! A few aisles down I found adorable little bags that would be perfect to hold party favors, plus they were in packs of 5! If you’ve been in the Dollar Tree you know there are countless items you could use as party favors, from silly toys to coloring books and crayons! The sky’s the limit.

Want to save on invites? They have those too. You could even purchase cards and wrapping paper or bags for your gifts! Plus, they have baking supplies if you’re making the cake yourself (pair these items with a coupon to save even more). It’s definitely one stop shopping!

I think we could easily spend under $60 for a party with 10 friends! Let’s break it down – invitations ($2), decorations (10 balloons, 2 tabletop decorations, one tablecloth – $13), cake supplies/plates/napkins/etc ($10), party favors (3-$1 items per child and 2 sets of bags – $32)!

How do you have a birthday party on a budget?
